The place of Pain our lives...
What we believe about the place of pain in our lives determines how we try to cope with it. If we believe that pain belongs in our lives because God has ordained it, then we will be more inclined to accept it. When stress and pain enter our lives we must choose to either resist or leave our situation in God’s hands. It is very difficult to live both ways – to trust God with our pain and try to control it at the same time.

Rejecting emotional pain...
So when we reject emotional pain, we are in effect rejecting all pain and thus running the risk of trying to circumvent the limits God has put upon humanity. In contrast, when we accept emotional pain, we are far less likely to make the mistake of trying to recreate God's world. -Thorns in the Heart

God allows emotional and physical pain
God allows emotional and physical pain to have a precise and necessary influence in our lives. Pain is personalized. God knows how much we need and how much we can handle. We cannot function or survive when pain becomes too great. On the other hand, with too little pain we would not be motivated to survive at all! We must live in an uncomfortable balance. - Thorns in the Heart

Today's insight from Thorns in the Heart
Perhaps the greatest obstacle to recovery lies in our fear of trusting God with our failed behavior. Our tendency is to try to fix our problems rather than to focus on help. When in trouble, we tend to choose any relief that will take the pressure off and leave our accustomed life-style untouched. -Thorns in the Heart http://www.thornsintheheart.com/

Today's insight from Thorns...
"While we may agree that trusting God is important, actually doing so can be quite difficult. When we hurt, we often wonder if God still loves us. Is He really aware of our suffering? Do we need to pray harder or longer to let Him know we need Him? Of course He knows." - Steve Stiles
